Healthy Eating that Don't Suck

You're almost through the first month of 2019 and either crushing your resolutions or struggling to eat a few carrot sticks here and there. Well, I am here to tell you not to feel pressured into doing the Whole30 diet because everyone at the office is or signing up for that intensive boot camp because there was a January deal.  Everyone’s resolutions are not your resolutions. I'm a firm believer of living life in moderation (including moderation :-p) and that eating healthy shouldn't have to be a chore. Coming from a gal who loves to eat and drink her way around the world finding healthy, delicious food can be tough sometimes. I'm rounding up a few of my favorite places that are serving up tasty, healthy food that will keep you nourished all year round.

Evergreens Salad

Gone are the days of sneeze guards, iceberg lettuce and thousand island dressing at the salad bar. This is hands down one of my favorite places to grab a quick and healthy lunch. With 10+ salad, wrap or grain bowl options you're bound to find something to satisfy your craving. Feel free to add, sub, omit ingredients or just make your own signature salad.  My go to is always the El Sombrero sub kale and add a scoop of quinoa and pickled onions. What's your favorite salad combo?

Floret

Being someone that travels for work, it can be tough to find healthy eating options at the airport. I was so excited when Floret opened up at Sea-Tac. This full-service restaurant from the lovely people of Cafe Flora is a gem in the rough. They serve up seasonal vegetarian and vegan fare that won't have you missing meat or dairy (ask my husband, the steak and potatoes loving man). I stop there religiously when I am at the airport. I might be a little obsessed. If you're in a hurry, they have a coffee bar that offers grab and go items. The cinnamon roll will satisfy any sweet tooth and the breakfast burrito will have you ready to fight for the arm rests in the middle seat. Plus who doesn't love a restaurant that compliments you? And that wallpaper is pretty darn grammable!

Verve Bowls

Who knew that you could love smoothies in a bowl topped with delicious morsels so much? I was pretty obsessed with acai bowls there for a minute. My wallet appreciated them way less so I had to pump the brakes. Verve Bowls, if you're reading this and need an ambassador, I am willing to take acai bowls as payment. But seriously, you can't go wrong with any of them. They're filling and will fuel you for the whole day.

BopBox

This Korean fusion eatery is the newest addition to Georgetown and I couldn’t be more excited that it’s a short walk from my house. Everything is made in house and in small batches. The pickles and fermented sides (kimchi goodness) are awesome for your gut and are tasty to boot. The menu will rotate seasonally and they offer grain alternatives like cauliflower rice if you’re watching your carb intake. Don’t forget to put an egg on it!

Lucky Santo

I may be a little bias because a couple of my good friends are involved in this place, but it's FREAKING AMAZING! This gluten, soy, dairy free (self-proclaimed) healthy joint serves up good for you food that doesn't taste healthy. You can tell in just a few bites that there is so much care and thought that goes into each dish. You order at the counter and then grab a seat. If you’re in a hurry they have some items at the counter you can grab (the brownie is suppose to be pretty spectacular). Smoothies are an all day thing at Lucky Santo if you prefer your nutrients in liquid form. I could go on and on about this restaurant but just go and try it out for yourself. Your body and taste buds will thank you.
